Education Activities

Education for children

The organization provides support to the children who have limited resources to meet their educational needs. Further efforts are made to ensure that the drop out children are also mainstreamed into schools. Located on the coastal area of Kachchh, Luni village is socially and economically backward. When we started working in 2001, the situation of education was very poor with availability of only primary education and there were no schools offering secondary education after grade 8th. The population here was primarily into fishing and their social and economical status was very poor. Under such circumstances it was natural for children not to study further as that meant going out of the village which was not possible. The parents were also not very well educated and therefore they did not have too much of aspirations from their children to study further. RECT started working with a mission to improve the overall education scenario.

We motivate students through various events and by providing them the required study material. Various events and days are celebrated in the village and schools and children are motivated to participate in these.

The efforts of the organization have resulted into many students pursuing education after elementary. They have gone further to complete secondary and senior secondary education to get admission in graduation, engineering and medical courses.
In 2013 a primary school from grade 6th to 8th was also started with an aim for strengthening upper primary education of children before they start secondary education. To strengthen the vernacular skills of the girls, language classes for girls offering Arabic, Urdu and Farsi. The students from poorer families are provided learning and stationery material to support their education. Financial support in terms of fees and scholarships is also given to students who are poor or orphan. Orphan children are further supported by finding families who are ready to adopt them.
